Recently I got asked to do a fun little project for Delta. I had to pull together a kitchen design.  Basically a mood board – a design with no client involved – freeing! At the end of the day I didn’t go as crazy as I expected but it was a fun exercise. Below is the Ad that ran in This Old House Magazine, which like all design projects ended up being a variation of the initial design.

Kristina Crestin Design_Brizo Blog Post ABelow is the 2nd variation I was working with. It all started with the Trinsic faucet in matt black.  We’ve been using allot of matte black lately and I’ve always wanted to pair it with this great copper and black fixture from Rejuvenation. Most clients have been hesitant to utilize copper, wondering about it’s longevity as a trend (and we have too). So of course since this wasn’t real life I went with the copper idea.  Classic marble, dark grey cabinets and a fabulous patterned floor tile all make a nice backdrop for copper accents to sparkle. Not to mentioned a colored range …. one of my current obsessions …..

This last vignette was where I started with my design, loving this graphic tile. The rich blue tone with copper was just a lovely pairing, especially rounding it out with the matte black faucet and a black range. Done! I’d take it. Too bad doing my kitchen isn’t in the cards …..  This grouping didn’t make it to the cutting board as they wanted some more color for the ad, which is why the design morphed into the one above and then in turn what ended up published.

Finally! We can share this big announcement after keeping it under wraps since last summer! We have just completed the interiors for the Emmy award-winning PBS series This Old House.

For many months we have been working on a North Shore 18th century farmhouse that combines historic architecture with todays amenities. This is where we come in – helping the clients bring some modern farmhouse touches into the interior and make it a home.

We have been collaborating with Connor Homes out of Vermont and builder Kaminski Construction throughout this process. Check out the teaser video here. I can’t wait to show you more!  This North Shore Farmhouse premiers in Boston on Thursday, March 31st at 8pm on Channel 2, but check your local listings here.

It’s always so fun to see our work in print. At that point you’re so far removed from the process you can step back and appreciate the outcome. This weekends Boston Globe Magazine had a piece by Marni Katz on a fun girls room Mikaela and I designed recently. Getting to work on a bedroom for a pair of tweens was a nice departure from most of our work and just plain fun to do. Who doesn’t like to play with ruffled drapes once in a while!

The client wanted a New York City feel that was a bit feminine. Our focus was a room that they could gown into, letting go of the kiddie room feeling that the space had. We worked with the concept of a young 20something girl’s first NYC apartment in Soho; mixing sophistication with a little whimsy and a little urban.

We have more photos over on our web site, but we’ll share a full spread of images here soon! Then you’ll get to fully appreciate our killer gallery wall that our go-to art installer Sarah teamed up with us on. Lots of back and forth, reformulating plans as well as an entire day leads to quite an install! Look out for more photos.

What a nice scroll through my emails this morning to see that one of our projects made it into their weekly email blast! Ya!  We just shot this fun office literally 2 weeks ago and just got the pics up on our own web site yesterday! Check them out here. I’ll be sharing some sketches and design process of it later this week.

Check out Dering Hall for more tips on storage ideas and the full post.  Have a great weekend all!

One of our projects was profiled yesterday in the Boston Globe, in the Home Design section. This project always makes me smile, especially my gnome that I spray painted turquoise. (shocker) Thinking it should have been out today with St Patty’s and all! Had to share since it put a smile on my face.

A big yay! It was fun to see my holiday decor come out recently in Cottages and Bungalows but it was even more exciting to see my favorite blog share it! Just yesterday Erin did a post that made my day! I just needed to share. Check out her post over at the House of Turquoise Blog.

Yesterday the newest issue of Cottages & Bungalows came out – with my own house in it! We shot it last February and I’ve almost forgotten that it was happening. We had to re-do all of Christmas, including cutting down a tree to make the shoot happen. With the powers of photography and staging the tree in the shot is actually bald on the back but you can’t tell! Now looking at this I feel so much pressure for this year …. oh dear.

It’s very surreal to flip through magazine pages and see your work unexpectedly! Not to beat the dead horse on this project, but I just saw Landry & Arcari’s add using our Manchester Kitchen! How fun …. now if only my name was somewhere on there in teeny tiny print!
